Clive Williams - My Interests

I'm a keen musician and melodeon player.

I play melodeon in a few bands - GIG CB!, a duo with Mark Prescott on violin, and many local bands - playing traditional music from England and France. Click on the following links to find out more about (and download music from):

Mark Prescott and Clive Williams - CD "Vivant"

... and ...

GIG CB! - CDs, "Giant!" and "Here Be Giants"

You can find a weblog of what music I'm currently working on, though I don't keep it up to date as often as I should!

I've also played with On Bouge, the French traditional dance club, based in London. I played with the On Bouge band at Sidmouth Folk Festival for 4 years, Footworks day of dance, and at the South Bank Folk Week. I have given melodeon workshops at Sidmouth Folk Festival, teaching a group of about 40 melodeon players how to play traditional French music, and at Towersey led French music workshops for about 150 musicians !

Until recently, I've been heavily involved in organising the well known Stony Stratford music festival Folk on the Green with particular responsibility for sponsorship, advertising, and booklet production and sales.

With Spice, an activity group for people who want to live a little, I've tried many things that people normally wouldn't get a chance to. Such as flying aerobatic aircraft, sailing ocean-going racing yachts, and getting lost in blizzards on Snowdon.

I've taken evening classes in sound engineering and recording, using these skills to produce the Vivant album.

You can find some mp3's of my playing with Vivant and GIG CB! >here and here. I've also got some samples of me playing the Streb eMelodeon - an all electric melodeon, that is truly an amazing instrument. See what you think...

The Liverpool Hornpipe - played using melodeon samples on the Streb.
Purcell's Trumpet and Air - played using the church organ effects on the Streb.
Handel's Minuet de Berenice - a march, sometimes used for wedding ceremonies. Again using Streb church organ effects.
